HighScope Education Model

The HighScope Preschool Program is based on child development theories, research, and teaching practices.

In the HighScope Preschool Curriculum, children actively construct and shape their understanding of the world. They engage in planning and implementing their interests and intentions, which supports the development of their knowledge and skills. Learning goes beyond passive knowledge transfer from adults; it is a collaborative process where children make discoveries through direct interactions with people, objects, events, and concepts.

HighScope educators are equally engaged and participatory in this process. They thoughtfully provide resources, design activities, and engage in meaningful interactions that support and extend children’s thinking. Activities are designed to be developmentally appropriate, rooted in children’s natural curiosity, and aligned with their current and emerging abilities, ensuring effective learning and growth.
