Green Campus is an initiative that aims to create awareness of the continuation and integrity of the ecosystem within K-12 schools in line with the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals with a focus on all sorts of activities associated with such themes as prevention of environmental pollution, energy and natural resource management, continuation of biodiversity, minimization of emission and waste formation, recycling and reuse. In order to actively carry out such activities, Hisar Schools aims to position itself as an exemplary school with sustainable education and training practices across the local and international platform by establishing a committee.

Studies on Garbage and Waste
TURÇEV Eko-Schools ProgramEco-Schools Program is a program applied to provide environmental awareness, environmental management and sustainable development education in pre-school, primary and secondary schools. It is an international environmental education program supported by the International Environmental Education Foundation (FEE) run by TÜRÇEV in our country. Within the scope of the program, there are more than 70 countries that carry out the Eco-Schools Program affiliated with FEE.
With a participatory approach, students at schools both learn about environmental issues and take an active role in raising awareness of their families, local administrations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) on environmental issues. Eco-Schools Program, besides offering a guiding program to schools on environmental education; It is also an award plan as it gives the Green Flag awards to schools that have achieved outstanding success with their work and environmental education within the program. The Green Flag is an eco-label that symbolizes the internationally recognized and respected, environmentally conscious school. Hisar Secondary School students aim to work on the theme of “Recycling & Waste-Waste” in the next two academic years within the scope of the Eco-School Program, to organize activities on these themes in their schools, to raise awareness, and to raise awareness of their environment and families.
World Wildlife Foundation (WWF) Turkey Nature Pioneers Program - High SchoolOur High School students are working to reduce the consumption of single-use plastic throughout the school. According to the results of the survey they conducted on plastic consumption in our high school, it was seen that 88.3% of the participants were uncomfortable with plastic consumption. They shared the results of their survey with the school administration. Our club students collected plastic cups from high school garbage for 5 days and displayed our plastic consumption in the net they placed in the high school lobby.
The school management removed the plastic cups next to the water dispensers and distributed flasks with their names to all students and teachers.
"Nature Pollution" Study - Primary School 1st GradesOur 1st grade students work within the scope of community services to prevent pollution of nature. After their in-class work in the first semester, they prepare currencies, walk around the whole school and say their desire for a clean nature with slogans.
In the second semester, they read the book titled “Miss Tiki’s Class Becomes Environmentalist” with our high school students and chat about the book. They meet with our sister school Nejat Sabuncu Primary School’s first grade students, talk about their activities for nature throughout the year, tell them about the book they read and present them as gifts. They try to convey their messages about nature to us by drawing pictures together.
"Plastic Planet" Study - Primary School 2nd GradesOur 2nd grade students are preparing a story to raise awareness of the whole school, telling about the plastic pollution problem, which creatures are affected by this problem and what needs to be done to reduce the use of plastic. Students who prepare their stories with the block-based coding application prepare a poster at the end of their work and display these posters with their stories in the school corridors.
"Less Waste, Less Plastic" Project - Primary School 3. GradesOur 1st grade students, together with our high school students, are holding a workshop on the importance of consuming less and producing less waste. They display posters at the end of the workshop in the school corridors.
As an alternative to plastic bags, they paint and decorate cloth bags in Visual arts class. They present these cloth bags to the children of Akpınar Primary School and chat about the damage that plastic consumption causes to the ecosystem.
"Permaculture Club" Studies - Primary School 3rd and 4th GradesWithin the scope of Permaculture Club, awareness and implementation studies are carried out on the following issues: Permaculture ethics and principles, Worm Compost, Biodiversity, Effective Observation Studies, Circle culture, Sociocracy practices, Insects, Tree identification studies, Water conservation and correct use, Rain harvest, Seed, Poison-free house , Nature friendly vacation, and Consumption habits.

In our school, 2 kWh solar panels system is used to benefit from renewable energy sources. Since it is edible and clean energy, it does not have harmful effects on the environment such as smoke, gas, carbon monoxide and sulfur. Solar energy is an environmentally friendly and low cost system, and it is aimed to be used widely in the whole school.

World Wildlife Foundation (WWF) Turkey Nature Pioneers Program – Middle School
The aim of WWF-Turkey Natural Pioneers program; to guide children and their teachers with the belief that children can change their environment first, and then the society. Within the scope of this program, middle school students conduct the “Water Angels” module, which is mentored by science teachers. Students are expected to write and implement their own nature projects on this subject during the year. Those who will be selected among these projects have the chance of representation and training opportunities in WWF Youth Conferences. On this occasion; children are aimed to become Change Leaders first in their own schools and families, then in their neighborhoods and society.
“GSL Global Goals Competition”
The purpose of the GSL Global Goals Competition competition is to increase students’ awareness of global citizenship and bring their ideas to life. Students work on a topic that aims to achieve one of the United Nations Global Goals, write and implement a project and develop their social sensitivity. Our students write and carry out projects on reducing water consumption and reuse methods in this academic year.

“Permaculture” Study – High School and 5th Grades
We carry out activities with our 5th grade students under the leadership of our high school students in order to announce, know and apply permaculture in a way that affects the whole school spirit. Our High School students who prepare presentations about permaculture present this presentation to our 5th grade students. Our students continue activities together in our permaculture garden.
“Non-Toxic House” Project – 6th Grades
In our workshops aiming to reduce the chemicals we use in our homes, we prepare products such as toothpaste and surface cleaner with materials that are less harmful to nature. In our study where we do label reading, we learn what to pay attention to when using packaged products. Our 6th grade students continue activities to make toothpaste and surface cleaner, which they learned from our 8th and high school students, and to spread the reading of labels throughout the school.
