Green Campus

Eco-Schools Program is a program applied to provide environmental awareness, environmental management and sustainable development education in pre-school, primary and secondary schools. It is an international environmental education program supported by the International Environmental Education Foundation (FEE) run by TÜRÇEV in our country. Within the scope of the program, there are more than 70 countries that carry out the Eco-Schools Program affiliated with FEE.

With a participatory approach, students at schools both learn about environmental issues and take an active role in raising awareness of their families, local administrations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) on environmental issues. Eco-Schools Program, besides offering a guiding program to schools on environmental education; It is also an award plan as it gives the Green Flag awards to schools that have achieved outstanding success with their work and environmental education within the program. The Green Flag is an eco-label that symbolizes the internationally recognized and respected, environmentally conscious school. Hisar Secondary School students aim to work on the theme of “Recycling & Waste-Waste” in the next two academic years within the scope of the Eco-School Program, to organize activities on these themes in their schools, to raise awareness, and to raise awareness of their environment and families.

Our High School students are working to reduce the consumption of single-use plastic throughout the school. According to the results of the survey they conducted on plastic consumption in our high school, it was seen that 88.3% of the participants were uncomfortable with plastic consumption. They shared the results of their survey with the school administration. Our club students collected plastic cups from high school garbage for 5 days and displayed our plastic consumption in the net they placed in the high school lobby.

The school management removed the plastic cups next to the water dispensers and distributed flasks with their names to all students and teachers.

Our 1st grade students work within the scope of community services to prevent pollution of nature. After their in-class work in the first semester, they prepare currencies, walk around the whole school and say their desire for a clean nature with slogans.

In the second semester, they read the book titled “Miss Tiki’s Class Becomes Environmentalist” with our high school students and chat about the book. They meet with our sister school Nejat Sabuncu Primary School’s first grade students, talk about their activities for nature throughout the year, tell them about the book they read and present them as gifts. They try to convey their messages about nature to us by drawing pictures together.

Our 2nd grade students are preparing a story to raise awareness of the whole school, telling about the plastic pollution problem, which creatures are affected by this problem and what needs to be done to reduce the use of plastic. Students who prepare their stories with the block-based coding application prepare a poster at the end of their work and display these posters with their stories in the school corridors.

Our 1st grade students, together with our high school students, are holding a workshop on the importance of consuming less and producing less waste. They display posters at the end of the workshop in the school corridors.

As an alternative to plastic bags, they paint and decorate cloth bags in Visual arts class. They present these cloth bags to the children of Akpınar Primary School and chat about the damage that plastic consumption causes to the ecosystem.

Within the scope of Permaculture Club, awareness and implementation studies are carried out on the following issues: Permaculture ethics and principles, Worm Compost, Biodiversity, Effective Observation Studies, Circle culture, Sociocracy practices, Insects, Tree identification studies, Water conservation and correct use, Rain harvest, Seed, Poison-free house , Nature friendly vacation, and Consumption habits.
