Attended Events

Our students gain experience in generating, developing and presenting project ideas with teamwork or individually through academic programs offered at Hisar School alongside student clubs, workshops, and seminar activities. As part of this experience, our students participate in events organized in local and international platforms with projects and club activities, and fill us with pride thanks to their successful results.

First Robotics Competition

FIRST designs accessible and innovative programs which motivate young people for aiming at education and career opportunities in the areas of science, engineering, technology and math while also improving their self-confidence and life skills. One of the programs of FIRST, FRC is a program created for high school students. Before the competition, the robotics team consisting of our high school students works cooperatively to design a robot which can successfully complete the given tasks and gains a fair amount of knowledge, skill and experience in the areas of mechanics, electronics, and programming. Being a significant part of the team, the students in the entrepreneurship group carry out lots of activities for building the visual and institutional identity of their team, conducting their social media communications, and finding sponsors and resources. During these activities, students improve their skills greatly with regard to expressing themselves and their views, presenting ideas, finding resources, creating a brand and taking part in entrepreneurship.

As such, our robotics teams have been gradually established since 2015 for the purpose of participating in the First Robotics Competition (FRC). Our students have acquired unique experience and skills throughout this process. Our FRC Robotics Team, NoktaParantez, continues its activities, obtaining successes in the FRC.

Vex Robotics Competition

In its second year, the Mechaminds team, which started its activities as the first VEX Robotics Competition (VRC) team in Turkey, is active with four different teams under the umbrella of Hisar Mechatronics, having a more inclusive structure.

Throughout the year, VCR gives the students the chance to obtain the skills of STE(A)M by focusing on teamwork and effective communication, which are considered to be the fundamental life skills of the 21st century, and to test this process with a variety of tournaments taking place all year long. Producing robotics and engineering design projects based on different themes in each academic year, students continue their work throughout the year and make constant revisions to actualize their dreams.

During the process supported by after-school works at the level of high school as well as the mechatronics lessons provided to the 10th and 11th grades, students can transfer what they learn with regard to mechanical systems and electronics to their long-term memory. Awarded by juries in various areas of different tournaments they participated in during the process, the teams of Hisar Mechatronics are well-positioned to become the engineers of the future.

Volunteering in all stages of each tournament organized in Turkey in 2017-2018 and gaining the relevant knowledge during this process, the team of Hisar Mechatronics also held its own tournament with the participation of 15 teams in the academic year of 2018-2019. The teams of Hisar Mechatronics provided guidance to many teams by way of training organized for 2 days and set an example to all teams for sensitive professionalism with its struggle in the tournaments.

Technovation Challenge

Technovation Challenge is an international event providing opportunities to female students around the world in the areas of programming, product development, entrepreneurship and leadership. Each year, female students around the world define a significant issue in their community and try to find a solution via this platform.

Technovation Challenge, in which we have participated since 2012, covers the areas of programming, product development, entrepreneurship and leadership. As part of this project, many secondary school and high school students tackle global problems, develop a mobile application focusing on solution and complete the process with a comprehensive business plan to materialize the application. For this purpose, we have participated in the competition of Technovation Challenge since 2012.

OpenZeka MARC Competition (Mini Autonomous Racecar Competition)

Previously held at Bilkent University and Yıldız Technical University, the competition will be organized for the third time this year. The competition concerns the development processes of automation of a vehicle. Considering that universities will also participate in the competition, we must encourage the participation of our students so that they could benefit from potential university collaborations.

Robotex International Competitions - Estonia

One of the key robotics competitions in Europe, Robotex is organized in Tallinn, Estonia in 3 different fields. We encourage our students to participate in this competition, which has pioneered many innovations and inventions for digitalization in Estonia, in order to ensure that they have various experiences for entrepreneurship in the digital world. Therefore, we have participated in this event since 2018.

Invention Challenge (NASA JPL Invention Challenge)

The Invention Challenge was inspired by the “Invention Challenge” organized by JPL-NASA engineers for their own entertainment since 1998 and open to the participation of secondary schools in South Carolina. It has the same format and content, being organized only in Turkey outside the U.S. We follow and take part in this event regularly each year.

Mastering Physics ODTÜ

The workshop of Mastering Physics is an international project which has been organized by CERN for the last 5 years, aiming to increase students’ interest and awareness in particle physics. Its Turkish organization has been undertaken by METU. Students take part in activities by simulating CERN experiments for 2 days in line with the training and materials received.

Google Science Fair

Google Science Fair is an online science competition held globally each year with the sponsorship of Google, Lego, CERN, National Geographic, and Scientific American. Students participating in this competition have the opportunity to share their solutions to problems observed in their surrounding with the world.

International Journal of Arts and Sciences Conference - USA, Harvard and MIT University

IJAS Conference Series take place in various cities across Europe and North America each year. The event aims to help academicians from a variety of disciplines and countries present their scientific studies on an interdisciplinary platform while also providing opportunities for them to share their research by using peer-reviewed journals of IJAS. If their scientific research and articles are selected, our students get the chance to defend these studies on an international platform and publish them in scientific journals.
