As Hisar School, we celebrated International Women’s Day through various activities organized by our Visual Arts Department throughout February.
●Expressionist Art Workshop: A group of students, teachers and staff designed ”Celebrating Womanhood” activity through ”Expressionist Art” approach for three weeks led by Educator, Boğaziçi Üniversitesi Instructor Aylin Varyantan. They started their activity inspired from from Clarissa Pinkola Estes’ ”Women who Run with the Wolves”. During the first workshop, they acted the dance of the four elements and had the chance to reconnect with the sources they had but long neglected. In the second session, they produced paper sculptures inspired from the impressive poetry and drawings of Rupi Kaur. In the last gathering, they have gathered words together and transformed the them into poetry. The finished product was the representational mountain of wisdom of the knowledge that women transferred through generations. This work of art will be exhibited in various spaces in our school and will be a chance of communication and a source of inspiration.
●Creative Drama Workshop themed ” Women’s Struggle for their Rights“ – March 4: Our High School Portfolio students have organized a workshop on March 4 regarding women’s rights where they have tackled various questions about the issue via games, led by Educator Özengül Ergün.
●Chat: “A Feminist Looks like Us” – March 6: High School Club students joined a talk by Eda Gecikmez ve Zeyno Pekünlü .open to all teachers and staff on March 6, Wednesday between 14.05 and 15.35.
●Concert – March 8: On March 8, our High School students gave a short concert in Building C 3rd floor accompanied by Music Department Teachers.
