Michelle Duschang, Our Director of International Counseling Department attended the CIS Summer Counselors Tour this summer. Michelle, with 28 years of experience in admissions counseling is one of the five volunteers on the CIS Guidance Committee, which is a sub-committee of the CIS Regional Service Committees, committed to planning robust, interesting and balanced CIS tours of universities.
This year Michelle lead the “Right Across America Tour” with a colleague of hers from the American School of Warsaw, starting from Washington University in St. Louis and ending 15 universities, seven states, and more than 1500 miles later at NC State in the Research Triangle of North Carolina.
The tour team discovered a new interdisciplinary program, Beyond Boundaries, at Washington University in St. Louis designed for students who want to be creative problem solvers; enjoyed a candid discussion about competitive admissions at Vanderbilt; were impressed by the remarks on community engagement by Connie LeDoux Book, President of Elon University, and learned about the internship and research benefits of attending one of the three universities in the Research Triangle, UNC Chapel Hill, Duke University, NC State.
We will be looking forward to updates form Michelle and the team for next summer as she is already inspired to plan for the 2019 CIS Summer Counselor Tour: Canada.
