One of our graduates, Izzet Kebudi ’15, is a junior at Columbia University’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. He majors in Operations Research and minors in Economics and Entrepreneurship & Innovation. Since his first year, he put an emphasis on joining extracurricular activities at Columbia to have a fulfilling undergraduate experience.

In Fall 2015, he joined Columbia Financial Investment Group, which is Columbia’s largest undergraduate finance club. CFIG teaches Columbia students about many aspects of finance through bringing in guest speakers and presenting weekly financial market recaps. Additionally, Izzet began to advertise the club off campus through sponsorship agreements with The Economist. He is currently the Vice President of the organization.

Izzet leads the Columbia Turkish Students Association, which is a club that exists to strengthen the Turkish community at Columbia. The club organizes semi-annual dinners that bring the Turks on campus together and hosts guest speakers on issues surrounding Turkish culture, art, politics, and more.

In Fall 2016, Izzet ran a campaign to become the Engineering School’s University Senator. He got elected, and is currently serving his second year at the University Senate. He also got elected the Vice Chair of the Student Affairs Committee within the University Senate. He works on issues surrounding academic advising, availability of space, mental health, and fitness services.

Izzet got very interested in finance through his involvement at CFIG. In Summer 2017, he interned at Citi Group’s Istanbul office as an Investment Banking Summer Analyst. This summer, he will work at Morgan Stanley as an Investment Banking Summer Analyst in New York. He seeks to begin his career in financial services, but is interested in exploring the renewable energy sector in the future. He wants to build a future that benefits the global community.

We are proud of our alumni and wish them all the best in their lives.
