A delegation from Athens American Community Schools including, Dr. Stefanos Gialamas, Director MaryAnn Augoustatos and 6 high school students visited our school in order to experience our IdeaLab and benefit from the technological experience of our students. They aim to create an incubator similar to our IdeaLab in their own school and came to get inspiration and ideas. Our students and their families, with great hospitality, let our visitors stay in their homes.
Our guests were greeted at the Istanbul International Airport on Saturday the 16th of September by our High School Principal Ms. Gülçin Cırık Doğramacı, our Computer Science teacher Serdar Uluer and our students. After touring Istanbul’s Sultanahmet region, they were picked up by our hosting parents.
Between the dates of September 18th and 20th, our visitors were hosted according to the pre-organised program at school. For three days, our students arranged workshops and introductory activities for our guests. Through this, our students shared their knowledge on 3D design with programs such as Autodesk Fusion and Maya, video editing with Adobe Premiere and programming with Processing. They also informed them about several more subjects such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi and Swift. Our students also shared the process of how IdeaLab was created, with the students and principals of American Community Schools Athens in interviews.
Our guest students and principals were drawn to our Coding Summit event, which is an annual event organised by the Computer Science Department and students who participate in HisarCS. It was a great pleasure for us and our students to get to know the principals and students of American Community Schools Athens, who stated their intention to keep in touch by collaborating on similar projects and invited our students to visit Athens as soon as possible.
