Between 7-10 June, our 8th grade students went on the “Mission: Rome” excursion. During the trip, they visited the Piazza Navona, the Pantheon Temple, the Italian Parliament building, the Mentecitiorio Column, the Fontana Di Trevi (Love Fountain), the Piazza Spagna and the Spanish Staircase. They also saw the Vatican Museum, including the Sistine Chapel and Saint Peter’s Cathedral and toured the town of Nemi, Albano Lake, the Villa Borghese, the Via de Corso esplanade, the hills of Monte Pincio and Capitolini, the Victory Monument, the Piazza Venezzia, the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and Saint Angelo’s Castle. During breaks from all this touring, students had the opportunity to sample the peerless delights of Italian cuisine.
One evening, we spent a night revisiting all of Rome’s important monuments with a “Rome Under the Stars” tour.
Thanks to the detailed lectures about Rome’s history from our guides at every stop, students received a lot of information about the important events and areas of the city. After investigating the works of important Italian artists like Bernini, Michelangelo, and Raphael throughout the trip, students brought together all the many things they had learned and seen in our Renaissance chats at the Villa Borghese.
