Our seniors have already started the exciting process of applying to universities with a bang. In October, 42 seniors submitted a total of 133 early applications to universities in the US and UK. Over the rest of the year, 72 students (78% of the senior class) plan to submit over 800 applications to universities overseas. 19 students (22%) plan to apply to domestic universities (some are also applying to universities abroad). Preparations for the YGS-LYS exams continues at full speed, and a practice test will be held at Hisar in November.

Many top universities from around the world have visited Istanbul and Hisar to introduce their programs to students to get to know students better. So far this semester, 98 universities (from the US, Canada, UK, Europe, and Japan) have visited Hisar. The UCLA and UC Berkeley joint presentation was attended by more than 70 of our high school students.

We hosted 2 university fairs: the European Universities Fair on Oct 15th where 8 top universities attended, and the Canadian Universities Fair on October 8th where 6 top universities. Our students also attended 2 university fairs in Istanbul: the CIS Education Fair on Oct 4th attended by over 100 universities from around the World, and UK Education Days organized by the British Council on Oct 17th attended by 30 universities from the UK. Seniors interesting in applying to domestic universities visited Bilgi University on Oct 19th and will visit Koç University in the second semester.

In a continued effort to network and raise awareness of Hisar’s profile, the International University Counseling department will be attending the CIS Forum in Edinburgh, Scotland in November. This global gathering of university admission officers and school university counsellors offers opportunities to learn about current trends in international student recruitment and post-secondary admission and network with admission colleagues.
