A group of Hisar high school students went to New York this summer with their Visual Arts teacher, Aslı Kinsizer. to participate in various art competitions and festivals.
In June, they participated in the international science and art Olympiad, Genius Olympics, that was hosted by State University of New YORK (SUNY) at Oswego. The finals were held in New York City between June 15 and 19. A total of 1,171 projects were submitted, and 401 projects advanced to the final round. Hisar High School students submitted one design and two art projects, and all three projects were chosen for the final round and two projects received awards.
Sarp A.’17 took 2nd place with his “We Have Only One World” project in the field of design, while Zeynep Lal K. ’16 took 3rd place with her “How Fast Can You End the World?” project in the field of illustration. Both received early acceptances to the Art department of SUNY at Oswego, and Sarp won a 4-year scholarship. Both of our students are also eligible to apply early to Cornell, Brown, Syracuse and apply for scholarships.
In July, students attended the World Children’s Festival that was organized by the International Child Art Foundation (ICAF) withthe theme of ‘My Favorite Sport’. In addition to participating in the ICAF festival, our students also attended art classes in the XXX museum and workshops organized by the Turkish Consulate.
We continue to support our students’ personal development on an international level that is in line with our school mission to develop our students’ true potential. This summer, our students were able to do so by participating in Genius Olympics and the World Children’s Festival.
